Memory Vault

Private, portable memory for your AI assistants

Memory Vault is a personal memory layer that works with ChatGPT and Claude. It stores the facts and preferences you choose to keep — in a database you own — so every assistant starts every conversation already knowing your context. No training on your data, no advertising profile, no lock-in.

Why it exists

Consumer AI memory features are opaque: you can't see everything they hold, you can't take it with you, and it lives on someone else's infrastructure. Memory Vault inverts that. The store is a Supabase project in your account, access is controlled by a personal key only you hold, and every record is exportable or deletable on demand.

What it can do

remember

Store a fact, preference or decision. You choose what goes in — nothing is stored automatically.

recall

Search your memories by keyword or topic and bring them into the conversation.

list_recent

See what was stored most recently, so you always know what the vault holds.

forget

Delete a specific memory. Deletion is immediate and permanent.

export_all

Export everything as JSON. Your data is yours — take it anywhere, any time.

How to connect

  1. Get your personal key. Keys are issued when the service is provisioned. Only a SHA-256 hash of your key is ever stored — the key itself is never written to any database or log.
  2. Add the server to your assistant. In ChatGPT, enable Developer Mode and add an MCP server at https://vault.colinmiley.com/mcp. In Claude, add it as a custom connector with the same URL.
  3. Authenticate. Sign in with OAuth and enter your personal key once, or send it as a bearer token. Either way, your memories resolve to the same private store.
  4. Use it naturally. Say “remember that I prefer short standups” or “what do you know about my pricing?” — the assistant calls the vault tools as needed.

Your data, concretely

  • Memories are stored in a dedicated Supabase (Postgres) project with row-level security enabled on every table.
  • Each user's data is isolated by a key derived from their personal key (SHA-256) — there are no shared tables of plaintext identity.
  • Access tokens expire after 1 hour; refresh tokens after 90 days; authorisation codes are single-use and expire in 5 minutes.
  • All traffic is HTTPS only. The service runs on Cloudflare Workers and stores nothing beyond the memories themselves and hashed credentials.
  • You can export everything (export_all) or delete anything (forget) at any time, from any connected assistant.

Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

What it is not

  • It never stores anything automatically — only when you (or the assistant, with your instruction) call remember.
  • It does not read your email, calendar or files.
  • It is not a shared or team memory by default — every key maps to one private store.
